“Stopped at The Cross by chance….what a find! beautiful location, peaceful, bubbling stream just outside the room, family of red squirrels running around….and the food was entirely unexpected and incredibly good, with flashes of brilliancy. Would deserve a Michelin star. Considering the quality of the accommodation and food the price was very reasonable. Thoroughly recommend it”bornandbred3
“Amazing food, just beautiful”
“I booked into the Cross after our original hotel closed down. We got the sleeper and they very kindly said we could leave our bags there early in the morning despite not checking in and would we like breakfast too? We didn’t do this in the end but it was lovely to have the offer. The house is in a beautiful setting beside the river, we were lucky to have the room with the balcony overlooking. The room was a good size and decorated nicely, if a little older taste, but beautiful. Bed was comfy. Bathroom was very big and my only complaint would be the lack of bath. We had dinner and it was simply amazing, if you are a foodie this is the place to come. Everything was just perfect, breakfast was very yummy as well. This place is high class so it is a little more money, I would say it is very good value. I wish we could have stayed longer

“A lovely dining experience”
“From the welcome through to the final liqueurs, the staff at the Cross are very welcoming and friendly without being stifling.
The food is excellent, with complimentary amuse bouche leading on to the ordered meal itself and then followed by delicious desserts. I would thoroughly recommend a visit, but be prepared to pay relative to the high quality you will experience.”WeeR0bbie
“As good as ever”
“This was our second visit to this delightful hotel. Very warm and friendly welcome from the owners. Provided with tea and home made shortbread biscuits on arrival. Room and bathroom very clean – with modern fixtures and fittings in the bathroom.
The highlight was the food. Superb three course dinner as was our experience on our first visit. Good selection of wines by the glass. Altogether a very enjoyable stay.”BorderTerriers
“Fine dining at its best”
“We visited the Cross with our 7 years old son on a wet November night. We were a little apprehensive about taking a child into a fine dining restaurants but the atmosphere was very relaxed and the lovely owners really made us feel at ease. The food was perfect, lots of game and big flavours and really showcased the beautiful seasonal produce of the Highlands. An absolute try if in the area.”
“Michelin quality dining”
“This charming to stay was perfect for our needs. It was close to the centre of Kingussie, yet it’s position was quiet. Our hosts were extremely welcoming and friendly and attentive and we had a lovely, large, comfy room. The gardens are a delight to explore, by the stream. Red squirrels were a real bonus, a highlight for me. But without doubt, the coup de grace, was the outstanding cuisine. The chef aspires to gain a Mixhelin star, but if his current repertoire is anything to go by, he deserves it already. All our meals were both inventive, beautifully presented but also tasty. The Cross has a lovely atmosphere with a spacious guest lounge area. A faultless visit. “Max08Guernsey
